Surface Design Guild Minutes
Meeting Date: Sunday, September 19, 2010
Waldemere Fire Station, Sarasota, FL
President Kim Sherrod called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. There were 28 in attendance. Introductions were made by newcomers, especially those from the Venice Basket Weavers Guild.
Announcement for the Manasota Weavers Guild Meetings: 2nd Saturday of each Month
At 10 AM at St.Armand’s Lutheran Church.
Dates have been confirmed for the year for the use of the room at the Waldemere Fire
House.
Betsy had a report on the upcoming FAB Show. The dates are February 10 thru the 13th,
•2011. She welcomed new folks to participate in the show. Betsy and Marge have
updated the inventory list. It is $30 to register and there is a commission structure. The goal this year is to group the showing of artists’ work all in the same area. FAB needs props to borrow for the show. Please consider contributing. FAB is on FB. Volunteers are needed for advertising. Artists, please make sure you have your Artist Bio or Statement into the committee including your phone # or website. These were very well received at the last show. No projects made at workshops are permitted at the FAB show, however you can make kits and sell them.
Elizabeth is the webmaster for our website.
Treasury Report: We have $1287.08 before tonight’s booksales. Tonight’s booksales
Totaled $31.00 and we have earned $396 from all booksales since we began this
Program. This will easily pay for our website for a year.
Kim passed out our monthly challenge. It is a Rag Doll Pattern to be created in any
Medium. Please bring your Rag Doll to the October Monthly Meeting. If you did
Not attend the Sept meeting, the pattern is on the website.
Judy will be in charge of the ATC exchange
Florida Tropical Weavers will have their March 2012 workshop in Lakes Wales, FL.
More to come on that the coming year.
There was a discussion of the Firehouse as a meeting place.
