2008
6:30
pm at
Firehouse
Following
the 6-6:30 social hour, Diane
opened the meeting since Kendra was out of town. She welcomed visitors
and new
members, including Jennifer Wiles from the bead guild and Nancy
Adams.
The
minutes from October (available on
the web site) were approved. The treasurer reported 30 members and a
balance of
$1203.40 , not counting members paying during this meeting. Dues for
this year
are overdue. Our membership list will be purged and non-members will no
longer
receive the emails with a link to the new web site. Contact Anna with
any
questions about the change of site.
Old
Business
–
FAB
– Betsy said that there are more
than 50 entries. The $5 fee for the reception is
optional.
Inspiration table – will continue. Members are encouraged
to bring
items of interest to display, along with a card with their name and
explanation
of the technique if needed.
Technique Pages – full
explanation in September minutes.
Early sign up December; January is last chance to be included in
February
distribution. Coming
-
December
is the ornament challenge. Bring
a hanger to display it. There is no signup for the potluck, except that
members
should bring food. (paper and beverages being arranged by Kendra).
Our
March meeting is the wearable art
fashion show. Start thinking about making something terrific to show us.
You can
do multiple pieces, change clothes in between, bring models, whatever
makes it
fun.
New
Business –
Belle Armoire returned our charm necklace that was featured in the
magazine.
Lois Mills has a person interested in purchasing a necklace. We were
asked to
suggest a price. After each person “voted” the average was $300, which
may be
more than anyone wants to pay. Someone suggested a silent auction. More
to
follow next month. We will chose a charity to receive the amount of the
sale.
New
Brochure –
Kendra designed it and Lois had it printed. Members can give to friends,
and it
will be available at FAB.
Play Days- on the last Sunday of each month at 1-4
we gather
in the firehouse to have fun. When applicable, we have a chance to
experience
the previous program art hands-on. Pam Thomas will collage in November.
Tonight’s
Program – Pam Thomas –
Collage
Pam
brought some of
her completed works for us to see. She described some of the ingredients
and
showed how they were integrated into the works. Pam uses a lot of found
materials and a combination of high end Golden products and building
materials
from Lowes. Acrylic paint, dryer sheets, tyvek, polymer clay, the list
goes on.
Pam will have kits available at Play Day on November 30 for $12 for us
to make a
work in fall colors or turquoise, and will guide us in the process.
Respectfully
submitted,
