December 2009 General Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order,  by president,  patsy monk on  December 8, 2009  at 6:30pm. 

Tonight’s greeter at door was  Lenore Loftus.  New members/ guests were introduced. 

Cheryl Martin moved to accept the minutes from Nov. 10 meeting.  Anne McCunny 2^nd the motion.  All approved.

Treasurer, Marcia Kaszuba  reported  that as of Nov. 30, 2009   we have  $1,332.31  in bank &   54  members at this time.  She reminded us of the $25.00 for each group of 5 new members, until March.  Please let her know if you have joined because of a specific member.

Old Business

There has been some talk about extending the meetings to 12 months a year.  Tonight we have a survey for those present to complete about this issue.  The results will be tabulated and presented at the next meeting.

Committee Reports/ events

    FAB.... Betsy reminded us about FAB in February and to see the new web site

    Venice Art Show--Betsy reminded us of this event in Jan.  See the web site for details

    Anything String -- Kim has mailed the shawl to the magazine.

    Manasota Weavers Guild... has requested a head count for the party coming up Dec. !2.  With  

     a show of hands, we have 2 members planning to attend the program.  If others can attend

     that day, they are welcome to do so

                                                                                                 

    Dec 19 Art Center Manatee Show/ Sale.   Diane Bunker,  committee chair,  will have a meeting

       of  those participating during the party tonight following the meeting.

 Anniversary Party update .........Pat Fox and Pat Mattay  requested assistance for set up.   Kim    

       will have  tables, etc set up that night. 

        

By Laws  are still being worked on and will be presented at a later date.

Web site …Kendra…  we still need a new logo for the guild and a Banner for the web site.  More

          on this at Play Day. 

New Business

 Board meeting   Jan 10^th  at Nancy’s house.   All are welcome. 

 January Program plans .........Kim informed us that the program will be Laura Reed and making  

        rubber stamps from Hardware Store finds.

Opportunities  and  Things  accomplished:   [from our members]

It was explained that if you have info to share about upcoming shows in which the guild members may participate,  you will be asked to put that info on an index card.   This will be used to gather info for the web site regarding opportunities [Call for Artist’s, shows, demos. Etc]

Lori Stone suggested we look into the possibility of showing work and selling at some of the empty stores in Sarasota.  She will ask around to see if others are interested in pursuing this idea.

One card was presented by patsy monk regarding a Zentangle show for the Palmetto Library for the month of MAY 2010. 

Kim reminded us for Atomic Holiday this next weekend from 12-6 at the Municipal Center on US 41.

Jennifer Wiles will be in the Cape Coral show Jan 9-10.

Betsy was in the Towles Court Show  which has already closed.

Pat Mattay brought to our attention a request to send thoughts & prayers to Lois Mills and family, as her husband will be having surgery in the near future. 

Since our Holiday Party would be the rest of the meeting and not a program, we did not have a break… the meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm  but we could continue to stay and party until 9pm.
